The family on the hill

Our family hosts every wedding on this hill, and we stay from the first chair to the last song. The barn was built to cure burley. We restored the vertical siding, the hinged vent boards, and the track the sliding doors still roll on. You say the vows outside. You eat and dance inside, with the wooded ridges in front of you.

There is room for 200. The field below the barn holds the cars. If you want to walk the place before you decide, we will meet you here.

  • Family owned and on site all day
  • Room for 200 guests
  • Tables, chairs and linens on hand
  • Plenty of field parking

A day here

Ceremony on the hilltop under a wooden arbor, guests seated on white chairs, wooded Lake Cumberland hills behind.

I

The ceremony

The chairs go out on the hill in the afternoon, facing a plain wooden arbor and the ridges beyond. You can hear the wind in the grass and, on a clear day, see a long way toward the Lake Cumberland hills. We set the chairs, a small speaker, and a shaded row for grandparents. If rain comes, we move the whole ceremony inside the barn.

Guests at supper inside the barn, long farm tables with candles and greenery, gray board walls and string lights.

II

The reception

Supper is early evening, inside, with the sliding doors open. Long farm tables, crossback chairs, and string lights running from beam to beam. Your caterer has the floor, the outlets, and a clear path from the drive. We keep the bridal suite and the groom’s loft open so people can step away without leaving the property.

A couple dancing just inside the barn's open end doors at dusk, string lights overhead, a few guests watching.

III

The evening

When the light drops, the floor is for dancing. You can see the first dance from the pasture, framed by the open doors and the hills going dark. We stay on site until the last song and the lights come down. The loft is there if you want a quiet minute before you go.

If the weather turns, the ceremony moves inside the barn. The vows do not wait on the sky.

  • Alcohol

Demo policy: a licensed bartender is required. We do not allow a self-serve bar.

  • Setup and cleanup

You have two hours before the event to set up and one hour after to clear out. An extra hour, or crew cleanup, is on the ledger.

  • Deposit

Demo: 30% of the date fee holds your Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

  • Heating and fans

In warm months we open the doors and run the fans. In cool months we set heaters along the barn floor.

  • Accessibility and parking

The barn floor is level, with a short ramp at the side door and a restroom on the main floor. The ceremony lawn is mown grass. Accessible parking sits beside the ramp. The rest of the field is open parking.
